Indian women win Venus Cup Boxing Tournament in Denmark
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Indian women pugilists -- led by World Champion Mary Kom -- won the coveted Venus Cup International Boxing Tournament held at Veijle, Denmark.
The Indian Boxers garnered five Gold, four Silver and one Bronze for a comprehensive domination of the Championship, which saw participation from New Zealand, Italy, Canada, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Russia, France, Romania, Germany and Finland.
The team will be returning here tomorrow.
The Gold medals came through Mary Kom (46 kg), Chottu Laura (50 kg), Sushma Kumari (52 kg), L Sarita Devi (54 kg) and N Usha (57 kg).
The same teams will be seen in action in the fourth World Women's Boxing Championships scheduled to be held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium here from November 17 to 24, an Indian Amateur Boxing Federation release said here today.
