Heavy rains likely in southern states

Pune, Oct 23 (UNI) Heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, They are also likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Dry weather will prevail over the Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Gujarat state, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

Day temperatures were apprecaibly above normal in Manipur, Konkan, Goa and coastal Karnataka. They were above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

The temperatures were appreciably to markedly below normal in Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan.

They were below normal in Bihar and west Uttar Pradesh, while they were normal over the rest of the country.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in some parts of south-east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. They were below normal in Manipur, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The temperatures were appreciably above normal in Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state and north Madhya Maharashtra, while they were above normal in Telangana. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Very light rain had occurred at isolated places in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, at a few places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Tamil Nadu. They had also occurred at isolated places in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

Dry weather had prevailed over Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Gujarat state, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
