Governor, CM extend greetings for Eid-ul-Fitr

Panaji, Oct 23 (UNI) Governor S C Jamjir and Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane have today extended their greetings to the Muslim brethren on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr falling on October 25.

''Prophet Mohammed gave us the valuable message of love, peace, brotherhood, compassion and tolerance, which are of great relevance to the mankind's well-being. This is an appropriate occasion for all of us to further promote these ideals in order to make the world a happy home for us to live in,'' the Govenor said in his message.

''Goa is a land of peace and social harmony and we have to enrich this tradition,'' he said.

''May the celebrations this year bring added joy to everyone and help strengthen the bonds of national unity and emotional integration among the people,'' he added.

The Chief Minister, in a separate message, urged the Muslim brethren to ''retrospect and ensure that they promoted the values of peace, love and tolerance to strengthen the bonds with the society, while adhearing to the teachings or prophet Mohammed''.

Goa has a rich tradition of peace and communal harony, he added.
