Goals rain in Nehru Hockey

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) It was virtually a goal-rush in the 24th ONGC Nehru Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament with Government High School, Chandigarh pounding Motilal Nehru Sports, Rai 11-0, while Model School Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana pummelling SGN Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sriganganagar 14-1 here today.

Gagandeep Singh scored a brilliant hat-trick for Government High School, while the Chandigarh team scored other goals through Diljot Singh (2), Gurjant Singh (2), Gurjinder Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Inderjit Singh and Major Singh.

In the other match, Ranjit Singh pumped in four goal, while Gagandeep Singh and Tarandeep Singh slammed three goals each as Model School Punjab Agriculture University made a mincemeat of their rivals. For the winners, Akashdeep Singh scored a brace each while Paviter Singh and Har Kawal P Singh also chipped in with one goal each.

Fir the Sriganganagar side, Jayender Chauhan scored the lone goal.

In another match, SS High School, Khunti came from behind to beat HCC Directorate, Jalandhar 2-1.

After Prem Singh earned the lead for the Jalandhar side, Khunti boys scored through Sunil Bhengra and John Bhengra to turn the table.
