Five Maoists surrender in AP

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 23 (UNI) Five Maoists, including a woman, surrendered before the police today.

Police said those included B Mallamma, who was the widow of a maoist, was shot dead by the police. She allegedly took part in raids on foodgrains at godowns and distributed the loot among the poor, S Brahmaiah, who participated in the Chilakaluripet police station raid in which seven persons, including an Inspector of police and three other police personnel, were gunned down, and K Saida Rao, an army deserter, who joined the extremists and gave them military training. In the raid on the Durgi police station, Rao allegedly fired rockets.

The remaining two extremists were passive in the party.
