Eve-teasers kill 2 villagers during Ramlila

Allahabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Two villagers including a boy were killed and three others seriously injured, when some eve-teasers belonging to a particular community opened fire in Tharwai area here last evening during the staging of 'Ramlila', police today said.

The deceased were identified as Shiv Shankar (30) and Vishnu Kant (12). The injured had been admitted to hospital, where the condition of one Harishankar was stated critical.

According to police, an altercation took place between the villagers and some miscreants on the issue of eve-teasing during 'Ramlila' in Damodarpur village.

When objected, the miscreants opened fire and escaped.

Meanwhile, the villagers claim some youth of the neighbouring village belonging to a particular community always created problems, but in spite of their complaint, the police had not yet taken any action against them.

Following prevailing tension, a large contingent of police had been deployed. No arrests have been made so far.
