Dagde, Raut to lead Mah in Sr National inter-state athletic meet

Pune, Oct 23 (UNI) Rajendra Dagde of Raigadh and Kavita Raut of Nasik will lead Maharashtra men and women teams in the senior national and inter-state athletic championship, which gets under way at Chennai from November 2 to 5.

Maharashtra State Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) secretary general Pralhad Sawant today said that the teams were selected based on the performance of the athletes in the Maharashtra State Athletic Championship held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City Mahalunge- Balewadi near here in August.

Former sprinter Homiyar Mistry of Mumbai will be the coach, while R B Dinde of Aurangabad and veteran athlete Gurbans Kau of Pune will be the managers for the men's and women's team respectively, Mr Sawant said and added that the squad would leave for Chennai on October 30 from Pune.

The teams: Men: Rajendra Dagde (capt, Raigadh), Ganesh Satpute, Shrirang Khandekar, Deepak Basarkar, Sandeep Parmar, Jitnder Singh, Dilbag Singh, Muninder Singh (all Pune), Sayed Shoaib (Amravati), Tesingh Semale (Augrangabad), Jitender Sind, Rajendra Gurav, Swapnil Sawant, Brahma Dubey (all Mumbai city), Sushant Bangera, Ajay Dusara, Ravindra Khade (all Mumbai suburbs), Swapnil Yadav (Satara), Kashinath Asawale (Solapur), Dhanraj Jogi (Thane) and Sachin Patil (Kolhapur).

Women: Kavita Raut (capt), Supriya Adak (both Nasik), Rucha Patil Pooja Patil, Kavita Jagtap, Rakhi Gaud (all Pune), Rashmi Gurnule, Madhuri Gurnule (both Nagpur) and Shriya Vidwans (Thane).

Managers: R B Dinde (Aurangabad) and Gurbans Kaur (Pune) Coach: Homiyar Mistry (Mumbai).
