Centre constitutes special working committee for NE
Aizawl, Oct 23 (UNI) The Centre has set up a special working committee to identify infrastructural gaps and suggest specific plans for North East region's development to be taken up during 11th Five Year Plan.
Representatives from Union Road Transport, Power, Agriculture, Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation, Education and IT and Chief Secretaries of NE states would be a part of the group, official sources here today said.
The NE states have been asked to identify the priority areas and suggest specific plans at the committee's the meeting to be held next month.
With the help of DONeR Ministry the working committee would also take steps to streamline and simplify the procedures for Detailed Project Reports (DPR) on time and sanction projects for North East region to minimise delays.
With the help of NIC, customised software had been developed for online monitoring of projects in the region Besides, Centre is also working on blue-print 'North East vision 2020' to take into account the NE people's consciousness, which is being prepared through participatory planning process.
An awareness mass campaign to suggest and ascertain the needs of nearly two lakh people had been completed in about 60 districts of the region.
