New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Bharatiya Janta Party Councillors today met senior party leader L K Advani and party president Rajnath Singh to urge them to put pressure on the Government to call a special session of Parliament for providing relief to traders from the threat of sealing.

In their meeting with Mr Advani at his residence, the Councillors, led by Leader of the Opposition in the MCD House Subhash Arya, said that after the violence during the September 20 Delhi Bandh, Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy had said that the Centre would, if necessary, call a special session of Parliament to provide relief to traders from sealing. But only a few days were left for the sealing in Delhi to begin again on November 1 and the Centre was yet to take any step to provide relief to over 40000 traders who had filed affidavits in the Supreme Court.

As a result, the 'Damocles Sword' of sealing hangs over the 44000 traders who had submitted affidavits in the court to close down their units by June 30, Mr Arya said, and urged Mr Advani to put pressure on the Government to take measures to give relief to traders.

Later, the Councillors also met party president Rajnath Singh in this regard. Mr Singh, who had earlier written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue, said he would address another communication to Dr Singh.

In their meeting with Mr Advani and Mr Singh, the BJP Councillors favoured implementation of the amnesty scheme to for all those having their commercial units in residential areas.
