Banks come to grinding halt on Oct 27

Bangalore, Oct 23: Banking industry across the country will come to a grinding halt on October 27 with Bank Employees and Officers observing a day's token strike depamding among other thing second option on pension.

The protest is spearheaded by the United Forum of Bank Unions.

The All India Bank Officers Confedertion in a release here today said the other issues included introduction of comprehensive scheme for compassionate appointment, opposition to outsourcing and demand for fresh recruitment and opposition to mergers and acquisitions.

UFBU also opposed moves by the government to take away trade union rights in the name of labour reforms and various other initiatives of the Government that would deunionise the working force in the industry.

The Confederation said that the Government and the Indian Banks' Association had failed to respond positively to these issues and hence strike had become inevitable.
