Itanagar, Oct 23 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government has allocated an amount of Rs four crore for relief and rehabilitation of drought affected people in 16 districts of the state. Chief Minister Gegong Apang, while addressing a public meeting at Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district on Saturday last, informed that each district would get Rs 25 lakh as drought relief and once the amount was spent, more would be provided to ensure that the same amount was always in hand to meet any disaster, informed official sources here today. "The drought relief amount of Rs 25 lakh would be kept with the respective deputy commissioners (DCs) as the state cabinet has decided that all matters related to relief and rehabilitation would be dwelt by the DCs, as they are the best persons to know about the correct extent of damages," the chief minister informed. Taking serious note over the revised estimates and delay in completion of different projects in the state, Mr Apang made it clear that any revised estimate of more than three per cent would not be tolerated and it would be drawn out of the salary of the concerned officer of the project. On apprehension that Dibang Multipurpose Hydel Project might be delayed by National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC), the chief minister assured that the state equity share would be released early to ensure timely completion of the project. Meanwhile, Mr Apang called upon the party workers to work unitedly adding that the government was based on party-based democracy and favoured continuous party activities and programmes involving all sections of the society, sources added.
