A mentally unstable woman raped

Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) A 26-year-old-mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Park Site, Vikroli in the eastern suburbs of the city.

Police today said that they have arrested the alleged rapist, indentified as Shyam Bhaskar Badam (24).

The accused had lured the mentally challenged woman to accompany him to a vacant room at Shirke Chawl at Vikroli around 1700 hrs yesterday. He is alleged to have raped her there, police said.

The matter came to light when the victim complained to her mother regarding pain in her genital area, police added.
