15 bodies recovered after passenger launch capsize in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Oct 23 (UNI) Rescuers recovered 15 bodies while 35 other passengers are still missing when a ferry, MV Baba Shahparan, with about 100 passengers sank in the Meghna river in southern Munshiganj district, about 25 km from here.

The police said the launch has been salvaged. Of the 15 dead bodies, mostly are children and women. Frantic search continues to trace the missing.

The launch sank 30 yards under water after hitting a cargo vessel at about 0930 hrs. Some of the passengers managed to swim ashore.
