1 shot dead, 3 hurt in Haryana village

Rohtak, Oct 23 (UNI) A man was shot dead and three other persons were injured in an attack by a rival group at Dabodah village in Jhajjar district of Haryana yesterday, reports said today.

Dispute over a plot of land was stated to be the reason behind the incident.

The reports said a group of persons, allegedly owing allegiance to Sarpanch Chandroop, attacked fellow villager Surajmal and his supporters with firearms, lathis and sharp-edged weapons.

While Surajmal was shot dead, three others of his group- Deepak, Satbir and Ombir--were injured in the attack. The injured were rushed to the civil hospital at Bahadurgarh town. Deepak, who was in a critical condition, was later referred to the PGIMS Rohtak.

Police has been deployed in the village in strength in view of the prevailing tension as the victims and the accused belonged to different castes.

A case under various sections of IPC was registered against Sarpanch Mandeep, his son Bhupender and about 20 other persons in this connection.
