Tiwari announces special allowance for police

Dehra Dun, Oct 22 (UNI) Uttaranchal Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari has announced a special 15 per cent allowance for police personnel engaged in intelligence and training.

Mr Tiwari further announced Rs. 2.5 Crore for the maintenance of police buildings and Rs 25 lakh for the welfare of former police personnel, after laying a wreath at 'Shahid Smarak' yesterday in the Police Line here on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

He said the Centre has agreed to help the state government in strengthening and modernising the police.

Last year 120 new police stations and chowkis were established and 262 dependents of deceased police personnel were provided employment, he informed.
