Safari to set up manufacturing unit in MP

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Ludhiana-based Safari Bikes Ltd, a unit of Hi-Bird Safari Group of Industries, manufacturer and exporter of 'Hi-Bird' and 'Safari' brands bicycles today said it plans to set up its manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh to meet the growing need of bicycles in Central and South India.

The company already supplies bicycles to Madhya Pradesh Government for its girl child welfare scheme.

Hi-Bird Safari Group Chairman R D Sharma in a press statement said, ''The company already has its manufacturing unit in Ludhiana in Punjab. As part of the company to enter the domestic in a bigway, it plans to set up state of the art in MP and talks are on with state government.'' The company has bagged the National award for quality instituted by Ministry of SSI, Government of India. Union Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the award to Mr Suresh Sharma, Executive Director Safari Group, at a function held recently in New Delhi.

Last year it opened its branches in Tianjin (China) and Holland and are in the final stage of signing a technological tie-up with a major bicycle manufacturing company in Europe for manufacture of high-end bikes.
