Minor girl among two killed in road accident in Punjab

Sangrur, Oct 22 (UNI) A six year old girl and a woman were killed and eight others were injured when a jeep ploughed into a crowd on Mahila road in the town yesterday, police today stated.

According to the police, the jeep which went out of control ploughed into a crowd of devotees going to pay obeisance in a gurdwara on the occasion of Diwali. Six year old Sheenu and 30-year old Sunita Rani were killed on the spot while eight others including children sustained injuries.

The injured were admitted to the civil hospital here.

In another incident an unidentified person was killed after being hit by a train on the outskirts of the town.
