LDF has not discussed DIC(K)'s merger with NCP: Viswam
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 22 (UNI) The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has not yet taken a decision or discussed the issue of accepting the merger of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), LDF convenor Vaikom Viswam said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said as the merger had not yet taken place, there was no need to discuss the issue in the LDF meeting.
When pointed out that the CPI, the second largest party in the LDF, was opposing the merger of the DIC(K), floated by Mr K Karunakaran, he said in the LDF each political parties had the freedom to give their suggestions.
The LDF would discuss the issue only when it comes up before it, he said.
Mr Viswom clarified that the acceptance of the DIC(K)'s entry to the LDF through the NCP, a constituent of the Left, would depend on whether that party would accept and follow the LDF ideologies and principles.
