Govt to up cash prize for Kerala Santosh Trophy Team on win

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 22 (UNI) Kerala Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M Vijayakumar today said the government will enhance the cash prize to the Kerala football team if they won the ongoing Santhosh Trophy.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said all the 23 team members of the squad including coach, manager and doctor would get Rs 75,000 each instead of the present cash prize of Rs 50,000 each, if they won the prestigious title.

Besides this, the team would also get prizes from various organisations, including the Sports Council.

On players' complaints about accommodation and other facilities, Mr Vijayakumar said the government would give priority to the players and ensure they got all the facilities in future.

The minister announced that from the next season the selection process and coaching would be held well ahead of the competition.

The government would provide full-fledged coaching to the team in next season to help it gain confidence, he added.
