Former MLA Shivajirao Gotad passes away

Mumbai, Oct 22: Former BJP MLA from Ratnagiri Shivajirao Gotad today passed away in the Bombay hospital.

He was 71.

Late Gotad is survived by two sons. His cremation will take place tomorrow at Ratnagiri, according to party sources.

The three-time MLA first got elected to the Assembly in the byelections in 1983 and then in 1990 and 95. He was the chairman of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation during the Shiv sena BJP regime.

He took retirement from active politics in 1999 and was suffering from paralysis for the last two years. He was admitted to the Bombay hospital on October 13.
