Congress delegation calls upon Patil
Agartala, Oct 22 (UNI) A delegation of the Tripura Congress' leaders led by Ratan Lal Nath called upon Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil seeking the Centre's intervention in view of the deteriorating law and order in the state.
The delegation briefed Mr Patil about the insurgent activities in the state along with the recent killings of two State Rifle (TSR) jawans by militants and spurt in attrocities against women.
Mr Nath also demanded adequate compensation to the persons displaced from the Indo-Bangladesh border areas due to the ongoing border fencing works.
Meanwhile, the state police along with TSR jawans have launched a massive operation in the Baramura hills and adjoining areas to nab the militants involved in the recent killings of the two TSR jawans.
''We had sealed all the exit points and hope that the outlawed activists will be nabbed very soon,'' police sources said.
