Cold wave sweeps HP

Shimla, Oct 22 (UNI) Cold wave conditions continued to prevail in Himachal Pradesh along with tribal districts of Kinnuar and Chamba and Dhauladhar Ranges while the Kangra Valley, experienced another spell of snowfall for the third day today.

Kinner Kailash and other mountain peaks of Kinnuar district and high altitude areas of Kangra and Chamba district have experienced snowfall while light rains lashed lower parts.

The sky was overcast over Kangra, Kullu and Kinnuar districts of the state during the first half of the day before higher areas experienced snowfall with light showers in the lower parts.

Snow clouds were hovering over Kullu and Lahaul Spiti districts of the state, but there was no report of snow and rainfall during the last 24 hours.

Light showers lashed Shimla and other adjoining areas late in the evening, plummeting the day temperatures by a few degrees, the Met office said.

The state capital recorded a day temperature of 17 degrees C and a night temperature of 9.4 degrees C, while Sundernagar recorded a maximum of 25.1 and a minimum of 13.2 degrees C.

The Met office said Bhuntar recorded a day temperature of 24.1 and a night temperature of 11.7 degrees C, while Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded a night temperature of 2.1 degrees C.

It also forcast rains and snow at several isolated places in the state during the next 24 hours.
