BSE launches Hindi website on Trading

Mumbai, Oct 22: With an eye on the prospective investors hailing from the Hindi belt of the country, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) announced the launch of its Hindi website during the Muhurat Trading session which was held here this evening. The Hindi website was launched by the CMD of Motilal Oswal Securities Ltd, Motilal Oswal.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, which also marked the beginning of HIndu Calendar of Vikram Samvat year 2063, Managing Director&CEO of BSE, Rajnikant Patel, said that even though the stock exchange house has completed 132 years of its journey, it has not been able to attract the rural folks living in remote parts of the country. The percentage of household savings being invested in the capital market was merely 1.2 per cent which was quite low when compared to the figure of 22 per cent in the developed countries like the USA.

However, Mr Patel hoped that now more and more Hindi-speaking people living in the remote areas of northern part of the country would be inspired to invest their money in the stock market and thus help its growth.

If all goes well, the sensex may touch the mark of 14,000 by March next year, he added. Not to mention that BSE has launched its website in Gujarati language six months ago. Moreover, a new company, J H Svengaard Lab Ltd, was also listed at the BSE which worked for one hour duration on the day.

The other initiatives taken by the BSE on the occasion of Muhurat Trading include the launch of Members' Database and MobiTrack.

Launching the Members' Database, Hemendra Kothari, former President of BSE and CMD of DSP Merril Lynch, hoped that ''It will help investors know the understanding of his/her broker''. Nimesh Kampani, Chairman of J M Morgan Stanley, who formally launched the MobiTrack, said that ''One can now participate in the stock market trading through the help of one's cellphone even when one was travelling''.

The companies that were felicitated by the BSE chairman, Jagdish Kapur, on the occasion, include Angel Broking, BLB, CLSA India, Kotak Securities, Sam Global Securities and Sharekhan.
