Another army jawan arrested for spying

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Delhi Police has arrested one more Army jawan in the capital on charges of espionage in connivance with Pakistan's ISI and seized sensitive defence-related documents from him.

Ritesh Kumar Vishwakarma, 24, an Army signalman posted in Leh, was arrested on Friday morning at the Palam Airport on his arrival from Leh, police said.

On Friday night, police had arrested Hawaldar Anil Kumar, working with the Army Group Insurance Scheme from South-West Delhi's Mahipalpur areas while giving defence related sensitive documents to an official of the Pakistan High Commission.

Police recovered a pen drive and the Indian Army's documents from Ritesh, a resident of Bihar. He was supposed to hand over the information to an ISI agent in Kathmandu.

''He had been communicating with some ISI and other foreign agents and was in conspiracy with the ISI agents-based in Kathmandu for a purpose prejudicial for safety and security of India,'' police said.

During interrogation, Ritesh revealed that he had visited Kathmandu many times and met the ISI agent. The agent had directed the accused to collect the information and deliver it to him.

The accused was produced in court on Saturday and remanded to five-day police custody.

He is facing charges under the Official Secrets Act and IPC.
