About 80 people injured during Diwali

Bangalore, Oct 22 (UNI) More than 80 people, were injured, mostly on their eyes, as the Garden City Bangalore celebrated the Festival of Lights.

According to police, most of the injuries were accidental, some while witnessing lighting of the crackers and others while walking when 'Rocket' fired from somewhere hit them.

A labour sustained burn injuries on his body, when in a drunken mood after lighting cigarette threw the half burnt match stick on a bundle of crackers he had bought to celebrate the festival.

According to a doctor of a private hospital the number of injured was less as compared to the last year, probably due to awareness created by various organisations.

All the injured are undergoing treatment in various hospitals including Government's Minto Hospital.

All Eye hospitals in the city have been working round the clock to attend to the injured.
