23.68 lakh tonnes paddy arrive in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 22 (UNI) Over 23.68 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana as against about 19.10 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

While stating this here today, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that this year the arrival of paddy was 28 per cent more than the previous year. He said that out of the total arrival, over 14.70 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by the six government procuring agencies which was 78 per cent of the total arrival of leviable paddy and the rest 22 per cent was purchased by private millers and dealers.

He said that out of the total procurement, 6.90 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by HAFED, 4.85 lakh tonnes by Food and Supplies Department, 1.93 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, 1.21 lakh tonnes by Confed, 76,000 tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 8,700 metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India.

Mr Chander Mohan said that Kurukshetra district was leading in paddy arrival with 5.49 lakh tonnes followed by Karnal with 3.96 lakh tonnes and Fatehabad with 3.92 lakh tonnes.
