2 killed, 4 injured in cracker mishap

Puducherry, Oct 22 (UNI) Two girls were killed and four persons sustained serious burn injuries when a bundle of crackers accidentally exploded during Diwali at Villianur, near here, yesterday.

According to Fire Service sources, Kanchana and her relatives were bursting crackers, when it started to drizzle.

They immediately packed the crackers and kept the bundle in a vegetable shop owned by Kanchana's mother.

The mishap occurred when Kanchana's relative Rajakumari played with her toy gun and sparks fell on the cracker bundle.

While Kanchana died on the spot, the others were seriously injured.

They were admitted to the intensive care unit of the government general hospital.

Rajakumari, who was seriously injured in the mishap, died this morning at the hospital.
