Untimely rain dampens Diwali spirit in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 21 (UNI) Untimely rain coupled with hail today, dampened the festive spirit on the occasion of Diwali in this holy city.

Heavy downpour coupled with hail this afternoon brought the festive mood here to a standstill, especially affecting the business of makeshift shops selling fire-crackers, sweets and specially those selling earthen 'diyas' as the rain had badly damaged their products.
