"T in the Park" wins best UK festival award
LONDON, Oct 21 (Reuters) Scottish music event T in the Park has been voted by fans as the best major festival for the second year running at the 2006 UK Festival Awards.
This year's T in the Park was held near Kinross in July and featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Who as headline acts.
''Every band tells me that T in the Park is the best festival in the world,'' promoter Geoff Ellis told BBC Radio 1.
''I have to say I think T in the Park has the most passionate audience in the world, and that's what makes the bands give a lot more when they are on stage.'' The Bestival, held on the Isle of Wight, took the best medium-to-large festival award.
The Summer Sundae Weekender in Leicester won the award for best small festival, while London's Lovebox scooped the party people award for dance music.
Girl band Girls Aloud was voted top festival pop act, while The Prodigy won the best dance act prize.
