Solar Gen to popularise use of Renewal energy

Bangalore, Oct 21: Solar Generation, the youth wing of Green peace India, advocating for clean energy, has taken up the task of spreading awareness about global warming and encourage the use of renewal energy.

Solar Generation Coordinator Salil Mukhia said creating awareness about global warming was the need of the hour.

He said that as part of the campaign 'Totem Pole' had been launched in an effort to inform people also it climatic changes, particularly the student community.

''The Totem Pole is an embodiment of youth spirit and resistance.

It will visit various educational campuses while touring the globe beginning with India spreading the message of climate change and demands to switch to renewable energy''.

Mr Mukhia said that ''the Totem Pole will be our spokesperson and our activist. It will visit college campuses in Bangalore and try to reach out to the youth, acting as a mirror in which they see themselves as powerful partakers in the fight against Climate Change.

''The embodiment of youth spirit appears in bold symbols on the Totem. We wanted to express the aggression and the conscience of the youth. It was a difficult task for us to come to an ideal representation of youth, but this was by far the most we had to say', he added.
