SIBOA nat conf to be held on Oct 22 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 21: The 41st National Conference of the South Indian Bank Officers Association (SIBOA) would be held here tomorrow, Association Deputy General Secretary N I Thomas said today.

Talking to reporters, Mr Thomas said about 600 delegates from across the country would take part in the conference, which would be inaugurated by Kerala Law Minister M Vijayakumar.

The conference would discuss the issues and challenges faced by the banking sector in the country, particularly the old generation private banks, he said.

Mr Thomas said it would also formulate strategies defeating the move of taking over of the Lord Krishna Bank by the Centurian Bank and the silent permission of Finance Minister and the Reserve Bank policies helping it.

The meeting would also demand that the Reserve Bank to initiat policies for the survival of the old generation private banks and if a situation was conducive, such banks should be nationalised or steps be taken to merge these banks with nationalised banks, he added.
