Shoot out case: TDP leader Babu arrested

Vijayawada, Oct 21: The Andhra Pradesh Anti-Goonda Squad (AGS) team arrested Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Leader Katragadda Babu, the main accused in Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar shoot out case at his residence, today.

Addressing a press conference here, Deputy Commissioner of Police U V S Raju said the team headed by AGS Circle Inspector Raja Rao arrested Mr Babu on the information given by City Police Commissioner Umesh Sharaff.

Santhan Kumar and his associate Raja Vara Prasad alias Raju were shot by unidentified persons at the civil courts gate on August 18, when they came to the court for a case relating to SCST at Vuyyuru, the police added.

Mr Kumar who was seriously injured in the incident was admitted to the hospital and recovered later while Mr Raju succumbed to bullet injuries on the same day.

Mr Babu would be produced before the magistrate at a local court, added Mr Raju.
