ONGC approves Palatana project
Agartala, Oct 21 (UNI) The 160th Board meeting of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has approved the Palatana Gas Thermal Power Project.
The meeting held on October 19 at New Delhi said this was the first 'Gas-to-wire' project of the largest Navaratna Public Sector Unit (PSU) of the country, sources said.
The Rs 2087.6 crore Palatana thermal project had the initial capacity of 740 Mega Watt (MW) is targetted to be commissioned by 2009, official sources said.
The PSU would implement 2,370 MW advanced class combined cycle power plant at Palatana, sources said.
The sources further added that the generated power would be transmitted by utilising the services of North East Power Thermal Corporation (NEPTC) to uplink Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) Grid at Bongaigoan.
The power generated would cater to the demands of the North-East and transmitted to Northern Grid to meet the demands in North India.
Meanwhile, another ONGC top official, Tripura Asset told UNI that the PSU's Chairman-cum-Managing director (CMD) R S Sarma would be here on 25th or 26th of this month for a meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
