North-east monsoon active over Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Oct 21 (UNI) The north-east monsoon has been active over South Tamil Nadu with many places receiving good rains during the last 24 hrs, the weather office here said.

Rainfall occured at many places over Tamil Nadu, the weather office said adding that Coonoor received the maximum rainfall of 11 cm, followed by Palamkottai nine cm and Sholavandan eight cm.

Natham, Paramathi, Velur and Kothagiri received seven cm each.

During the next 48 hrs, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over the state, it said.

Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala, during next 48 hrs, it added.

The city and its suburbs would generally be cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, the weather office said.
