K'taka Itihaasa Sammelana in Hubli from Oct 26

Hampi, Oct 21: About 400 historians, research scholars and professors will participate in the three-day 18th Karnataka Itihaasa Sammelana, beginning October 26, and submit research papers.

Briefing about the convention, to be organised by the Kannada University, Hampi, varsity Registrar V Shankar told reporters here today that 13 sub-committees have been constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the convention, organised on the eve of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations. The convention was being organised in historic Hampi for the second time after a decade, he added.

He said more light would be thrown on Karnataka's history, culture and literature. The session would be inaugurated by Karnataka Home minister M P Prakash and the valedictory address would be delivered by Tourism Minister B Sriramulu on October 28.

Cultural programmes would be organised on all the three days by renowned cultural troupes, he added.
