IFFT to screen special package of films

Kozhikode, Oct 21 (UNI) Films of veteran Palestine director Dominique Dubosc and others will be among a special package at the Third International Film Festival of Thrissur beginning there from October 27.

Some of the other packages of the seven-day event are 'Prabudham,' a set of films on Buddha to commemorate his 2550th birth anniversay, 'Catch them Young' a package of films arranged exclusively for children, organising committee joint director P N Gopikrishnan told reporters here today.

A separate section called 'Masters and Classics'-- selected works of veteran directors Nani Moretti, Phalke Award winner Adoor Gopalakrishan, Gregory Kozintsev and Stanley Kwan is also included, he said.

A special package of documentaries and fiction films, depicting the country's independence struggle of 1857 would be screened alongwith a national level seminar on the subject to mark its 150th anniversary.

The film adjudged as best would receive Satyajit Ray award and a prize of Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000 for the second best, he added.

An advisory board headed by Mr Gopalakrishan and well known director T V Chandran as festival director and Mr Suresh Kurup, MP as organising committee chairman was formed for the smooth conduct of the event, organised by Janasamskara Chalachitrakendram, Mr Gopikrishnan said.
