Fashion designer Biddappa's son in JC till Nov 11
Bangalore, Oct 21: Adam, son of fashion designer Prasad Biddappa, who was arrested on charges of assaulting policemen, was produced before the Magistrate of a civil court here who remanded him to judicial custody till November eleven.
Adam was taken in custody by police in the wee hours of yesterday following the alleged assault on cops on duty doing night rounds outside a pub.
According to police, Adam, in a drunken mood, had assaulted the police who had gone to order closure of the pub for opening late in the night.
Explaining the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police G B Chabbi told UNI that while he was on a night rounds, he saw the pub still open beyond midnight. He had sent his men to order closure of the pub. Adam, who was among those inside, had abused the policemen and assaulted them. He denied that police had demanded money from Mr Biddappa for release of his son as alleged by the fashion designer.
Mr Chabbi alleged that Biddappa and his wife, had barged into the police station after hearing about the son's arrest. Mrs Biddappa abused the policemen and allegedly pushed the Deputy Commissioner and as a result he fell injuring one of his fingers.
However, Biddappa countered the police version and charged that the police had slapped a false case on his son and his wife. They had also demanded money for his son's release. Claiming that his son had never hit any policemen, he said when he opened the door of the pub it hit a policeman and he fell. Enraged, the policemen had beaten up his son, handcuffed him and put him in the lockup.
His wife too did not assault anyone including the DCP who fell when she rushed to see her son in the lockup.
