Diwali with grandeur in Bengal
Kolkata, Oct 21 (UNI) Diwali and Kali puja were celebrated with gaiety and grandeur throughout West Bengal today with lamps and fireworks dazzling the dark night.
Police said no major untoward incidents, except a trouble in Metiabruz, on the southern fringe of the city, had been reported and the people were in the traditional festive mood.
An elaborate security arrangement was made to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful celebration of the festival.
Like in the previous years, police kept strict vigil against bursting of sound crackers, banned in the state following a state government order.
With intricate decorations and colourful lights the community puja pandals turned into popular destination for the stream of visitors while Temples were decked up with flowers and lamps.
Firework competitions were held in different areas as part of celebrating the festival.
