Diwali celebrated in Bihar
Patna, Oct 21(UNI) The festival of light 'Deepawali' was celebrated in Bihar today with gaiety and relegious fervour.
The celebrations were peaceful although the state administration remained alert and vigilant to face any eventuality.
Devotees in large number thronged the temples as people exchanged greetings and distributed sweets although people exercised restraint in respect of extravagant use of fireworks.
Sky renting noise of crackers ignoring the restrictions of the district authorities on bursting of crackers having intensity of more than 65 decibels, was not audible this time probably in response to appeals issued by well meaning citizens and social organisations.
Governor R S Gavai and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Deepawali and expressed the hope that the 'festival of light would bring happiness and prosperity to all.
