Delhi, Services, Jharkhand, Chandigarh record impressive wins
Ludhiana, Oct 21 (UNI) Former champions Services, Delhi, Bengal, Chandigarh and Jharkhand won by huge margins against their opponents on the second day of the Dainik Bhaskar-Tracers 62nd National Hockey championships being played in four centers of Punjab.
Mizoram who had lost to Services yesterday (3-5), gave another impressive performance today before going down to Haryana 5-6.
At Bhaini Sahib, Delhi recorded their second consecutive win in pool-G thrashing Jammu and Kashmir 7-1, after leading 5-0 at half time. For the winners, Damandeep scored three goals while Prem Kumar got a brace. The lone goal for the losers was scored by Motinder Singh in the dying moments of the game.
In the second pool-G match, Uttar Pradesh gave an improved display today to notch their first win after drawing with Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. UP thrashed Tripura 9-0, after leading 3-0 at the breather.
In a pool-E match also at Bhaini Sahib, Jharkhand gave another impressive display to hammer Rajasthan 6-0, for their second straight victory. For the winners who led 5-0 at half time, Sanjay Terkey scored a brace.
Himachal Pradesh got a walkover from Nagaland in pool-E, after the north-eastern team failed to turn up for the championship.
