Bangladesh does not give shelter to terrorism
Shillong, Oct 21: Bangladesh's Awami League MP Pramode Mankin has denied that Bangladesh is a sanctuary and launching pad for terrorist and militant organisations.
Mr Mankin's denial assumed significance in the backdrop India's National Security Advisor M.K.Narayanan statement stating that India regards Bangladesh as a sanctuary for militants operating against it.
"We are not sheltering any terrorists in our country nor we support them," Mr Mankim told UNI here.
Mr Mankin, who is on a personal visit to India, said even his country is also facing the terror activities unleashed by Muslim fundamentalist oragnisations.
"You see, we also faced terror activities, violent Islamic groups had planted bombs and killed people," Mr Mankin said adding that these Muslim fundamentalist are being trained in Afghanistan.
"We have also acted against such terror activities which are against mankind," he asserted.
Replying to a query on the presence of Indian militants in Bangladesh, the Awami League MP said he is not aware of the Indian militants cooling their heels in his country.
