Gogoi welcome NSC decision to hold talks with ULFA
Guwahati, Oct 21: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today welcomed the National Security Council's reported decision to hold direct talks with the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA ) and the Centre.
Reiterating state government's full support for such a talks, Mr Gogoi said in a release here today that for a lasting peace, Centre should hold direct talks with the banned ULFA.
He appealed to the outfit to shun violence, stop extortion and sit for a direct talks with the Centre to create an atmosphere for peace and development in the state.
'All section of people of Asom want a permanent solution of the insurgency problem,' Mr Gogoi said and appealed to all insurgent groups of the state to shun violance.
