Army Hawaldar arrested for spying, Pak 'official' questioned
New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) An Army Hawaldar has been arrested from Mahipalpur area of a South-West Delhi, while passing secret documents to a Pakistan High Commission 'official'.
Hawaldar Anil Kumar, working with the Army Group Insurance Scheme, was arrested by the Special Cell sleuths last night from Mahipalpur while giving defence related sensitive documents to an 'official' of the Pakistan High Commission, said a senior police official.
The Pakistani official was also detained and interrogated. He was later handed over to the High Commission after completing the legal formalities, the official said.
The Hawaldar was being questioned, he added.
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, Pakistan lodged a protest over the alleged illegal 'detention and manhandling' of a driver of its High Commission in New Delhi.
Alleging that Mohammad Farooq, a driver with the Pakistan High Commission, was detained and manhandled by Indian security personnel, a statement by its foreign ministry said, ''The harassment of a Pakistani official is violation of international conventions as well as diplomatic norms.''
