4 killed by lightning

Maharajganj, Oct 21 (UNI) At least four villagers died and seven others were seriously injured when lightning struck them here today.

Police said the mishap occurred in village Kidha, when the victims were working in the field around 1100 hrs.

The sky became overcast followed by thundershowers and storm.

Manoj (19), Pardesi (40) and Sonam (18) died on the spot due to lightning. Rajesh (23) succumbed at the primary health centre during treatment.

Later, District Magistrate Deepak Agarwal rushed to the spot and announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 50,000 to the kin of those killed. The seven injured were undergoing treatment.
