101 BSF personnels martyred in 2006

New Delhi, Oct 21: As many as 101 Border Security Force personnel have so far laid down their lives in the line of duty this year.

The martyrs were remembered at a function held here in connection with the Police Commemoration Day which traces its origin to the supreme sacrifice of 10 policemen killed during combating the Chinese forces in Ladakh near a place known as Hot Sprints on this day in 1962.

To commemorate the occasion, a parade was organised at the BSF headquarter, Chhawla after which BSF DG AK Mitra read out names of the BSF and police martyrs and laid floral wreaths on the Memorial.

On this day, policemen all over the country remember and honour their brave colleagues and take a pledge to emulate them in the discharge of their duty.
