Wheat import crosses 20 lakh MT

New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Against a tender for import of 55 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat, a quantity of 20.15 lakh tonnes has touched Indian ports till yesterday.

According to an official release here today, Five vessels are currently at discharge at Mumbai, Chennai, Kandla, Vizag and Mundra ports, having a total quantity of 2,22,102 MT of wheat, out of which 1,00,154 MT has been discharged till yesterday.

Four vessels have arrived with 1,98,881 MT of wheat at Mundra, Kandla and Vizag ports and are under fumigation, quality-check and berthing.

Ten vessels that have sailed to Indian ports with 5,52,152 MT of wheat are scheduled to arrive by middle of next month, the release added.
