VHP, BJP activists stage symbolic hanging of Mohd Afzal Guru

Akola, Oct 20 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists today staged a symbolic hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Mohammed Afzal Guru.

He was earlier scheduled to be hanged today, but the same was deferred by the Supreme Court yesterday as his mercy plea is pending with President A P J Abdul Kalam.

The activists, led by local VHP leader Kamalkishore Bahe, gathered at Tower chowk and Madanlal Dhingra square here and symbolically hanged his effigy in protest against the postponement of his scheduled hanging, police sources said.
