Six killed in hooch tragedy
Jind, Oct 20 (UNI) Six people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Mallar and Singhana villages of Jind district of Haryana, reports said today.
While five people died last evening in Safidon hospital after consuming illicit liquor, one person died today at PGI Rohtak, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Satyawan, Ram Swaroop, Pyare Lal, Kaptan Singh, Suraj Bhan and Kali Ram.
Police had registered a case against four persons for running an unauthorised liquor vend and arrested two of its workers--Azad and Raghbir.
An official spokesman in Chandigarh said Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had asked the Crime Branch of the Police to look into the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Mr Hooda has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 51,000 to the next of kin of each of the victims.
