Seven dengue cases confirmed in MP
Bhopal, Oct 20 (UNI) Even as dengue ravages India, seven cases have been confirmed in Madhya Pradesh -- six from Gwalior area and one from the state capital.
''Three samples from Bhopal and 13 from Gwalior area were dispatched to the Delhi-based National Institute of Communicable Diseases,'' Commissioner (Health) Rajesh Rajora told UNI today.
Meanwhile, the Centre has ayed the setting up of an Advanced Apex Laboratory in Bhopal for investigating dengue, chikungunya and other fever-linked ailments. A dozen such labs are operating elsewhere in the country.
''Dengue ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) kits, provided by the Centre, have been handed over to medical colleges at Bhopal, Gwalior and Indore. Smoke machines, other devices and methods are being employed against mosquitoes. Doctors' vacations were cancelled in affected areas,'' the bureaucrat added.
