Rajnath blows UP local body polls bugle on Oct 24

Lucknow, Oct 20 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh will blow the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh local body polls from October 24 by addressing public meetings all over the state.

Party sources said here this evening, the former state chief minister would address election meetings at Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra and Aligarh on October 24 and 27.

Meanwhile, BJP vice-president and fellow former state CM Kalyan Singh would address a series of election meetings at Aligarh (Oct 24), Bulandshahr (Oct 25), Atrauli-Aligarh (Oct 26), Agra (27), Lucknow (Oct 28), Kanpur (Oct 29) and Ghaziabad (Oct 31).

Other senior BJP leaders including party's UP unit president Keshri Nath Tripathi, former state party chief Kalraj Mishra and leader of the opposition in UP assembly Lalji Tandon will also address public meetings at several places.

At Varanasi, the rally is being organised to garner support for BJP candidate to mayor's post -- Kaushalendra Singh.

The BJP is aiming a hat-trick in Varanasi mayoral polls, as in the last two elections, party candidates Saroj Singh and Amarnath Yadav had defeated opponents by convincing margins.
